Hi, I’m Emma!
I’m a college student seeking to grow closer to God while juggling classes, homework, exams, and…well, you know – all the things…
I started this blog in August of 2022 hoping to encourage other Christians, particularly young people, to be steadfast, immovable, and abounding in our work in the Lord. This mission comes from 1 Corinthians 15:58, where Paul writes, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”

But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.
Psalm 73:28
Steadfast
Hedraioi: This word literally means “well seated.” As Christians, we are to be settled in our faith, not wandering to false doctrines or misguided lifestyles. The life our Father gives us means we can be at peace with Him.
Immovable
Ametakinētoi: This one is pretty straightforward; it means to not move away from. Interestingly though, this is the only occurrence in the entire Bible.
Abounding
Perisseuontes: I like this one. The literal translation is “to be over and above.” It reminds me of what David says in Psalm 23: “my cup overflows.” This word really emphasizes the amount of commitment we are told to give to God’s work. We must sacrifice past what most people would consider “reasonable.” We must be radical about our faith.
With all of this in mind, Paul gives us encouragement. “Your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” This is such a great reminder. No matter how much we feel our work goes unnoticed or unappreciated, it is never in vain if we are following the Lord’s will. Even if no one else rewards us for our work, God is always watching. What could be more encouraging than such a magnificent audience?
On this blog, you can expect quick-read posts about living the Christian life, and some of the responsibilities that come along with that. Sometimes I also write series posts, focusing on certain passages, themes, or character studies. While I am writing with teenage/college-age readers in mind, nothing I write is relevant solely to this age group, and any interested readers are free to follow along!
